LIVING THINGS MAINTAINING HOMEOSTASIS

Topic:The Biochemical Processes That Maintain Homeostssis

The processes that help all living things obtain the energy they need are photosynthesis  and respiration.  photosynthesis capture the sun light   and use it to combine the inorganic raw materials (carbon dioxide and water)  to form ( the organic compound) glucose and oxygen.the energy that is  stored in the chemical bonds of glucose is released by the process of cellular respiration. The energy is released and again stored in  special molecules called  ATP, the form of energy used by all organisms.

A  link to Wikipedia is provided for more information.  Review the image that show the connection between photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

Human gastrointestinal tract ( the digestive system)

The human gastrointestinal tract is made up of the following parts:

the stomach and intestine,[1] sometimes including all the structures from the mouth to the anus.[2] (The “digestive system” is a broader term that includes other structures, including the accessory organs of digestion.

For detailed information check the  link below.(Wikipidea)

The you tube video will provide a visual tool to enhance your understanding of this system.

The Immune System

Why do humans need an immune system? An immune system protects the body from invaders. It protects you against disease causing pathogens. By perfoming this job the immune system helps you to maintain a balanced internal environment. The power point attached below will outline the following information :

  1.  How does the immune system work to protect the body against diseases?
  2. What is the function of the immune system?
  3. What are the three line of defense?
  4. What causes an  immune reaction (response)?
  5. How does your body react to an antigen?

THE FEEDBACK MECHANISM

HI ALL, WE ARE GOING TO STUDY TOGETHER THE FEEDBACK MECHANISM, THE PROCESS THAT ALL LIVING THINGS USE TO KEEP A STABLE INTERNAL STATE. WITHOUT THIS PROCESS WE MIGHT GET SICK OR EVEN DIE. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO EXPLORE THIS PROCESS BY FOLLOWING the POWER POINT.
